Tatiana Avakian
Tatiana is an experienced labor and employment attorney, who has advocated for employees for over ten years, and has recovered millions of dollars on behalf of employees, on an individual and collective basis. Tatiana first developed her passion for protecting employees’ rights during law school, where she worked in the Workers’ Rights Advocacy Group of the Neighborhood Legal Services, a non-profit organization catered to providing legal services to low-income individuals and families in Los Angeles. There, Tatiana focused on preparing wage calculations for litigants.
Since then, Tatiana continued to expand her knowledge and expertise of employment law. Tatiana participated in Loyola Law School’s Employment Rights Clinic, where she investigated retaliation cases filed with the Labor Commissioner’s office. During law school, Tatiana also interned at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, evaluating discrimination and harassment complaints.
Both during law school and following admission to the California State Bar, Tatiana worked at a plaintiff-side employment law firm, first as a law clerk, and later as an associate attorney, where she gained valuable litigation experience in discrimination, harassment, and wrongful termination cases, as well as wage and hour class actions, and helped to obtain outstanding results on behalf of her clients.
Prior to joining Bibiyan Law Group, P.C., Tatiana worked at a boutique firm focusing exclusively on plaintiff-side wage and hour class action and PAGA actions. There, she successfully obtained final approval of millions of dollars in wage-and-hour class and PAGA action settlements, including final approval of a settlement for $11,500,000 against a nationwide bank, prior to class certification. Tatiana was also instrumental in managing the major facets of a case alleging independent contractor misclassification of delivery drivers and drivers’ helpers where she successfully achieved class certification of numerous wage and hour claims and secured a settlement for $15,000,000 against a nationwide furniture company. Tatiana successfully managed her cases from pre-filing through approval of settlements, and throughout the process of advocating for her clients, she developed trusting relationships with them.
Tatiana earned B.A. degrees both in English Literature and Art History from the University of California, Irvine, and received her law degree from Loyola Law School.
Tatiana is admitted to practice law in the State of California and is admitted to practice in the Northern, Southern, and Central districts of California.
Tatiana is also fluent in Armenian.
In her personal time, Tatiana enjoys spending time with her husband, and two young children, reading literature, attending concerts, and rewatching classic sitcoms.
