Melissa Petrofsky
Melissa Petrofsky-White is an Associate Attorney for Arbitration at Bibiyan Law Group. She began her professional career as a special education teacher after earning her Bachelor’s degree from Culver-Stockton College, an experience that shaped her strong foundation in advocacy, patience, and service. She later earned her Juris Doctor from Whittier Law School, where she was named to the Dean’s List and served as Solicitations Editor of the Whittier Law Journal. During law school, she volunteered at a Pro Bono Homeless Clinic in Santa Ana, reinforcing her commitment to access to justice and meaningful client advocacy.
Melissa began her legal career as a law clerk at Sessions & Kimball LLP, working directly with the firm’s Litigation Partner on discovery, depositions, and complex law and motion matters. After being admitted to the bar, she continued as an associate attorney, representing employees in high-stakes litigation. From 2016 to 2024, she served as Principal Attorney at The Petrofsky Law Firm, where she handled extensive litigation, mediation, settlement negotiations, and arbitration proceedings. She was selected to Super Lawyers Magazine from 2015 to 2024 and recognized among the Top 100 Southern California Women Rising Stars and Top 100 Rising Stars in Employment Litigation. She was also one of the architects of the winning arguments in Mayers v. Volt Management Systems.
Her background in employment litigation and arbitration informs her work at Bibiyan Law Group, where she focuses on delivering thoughtful, well-reasoned resolutions to workplace disputes and advancing fairness in employment matters. Outside of her practice, Melissa enjoys playing the flute, writing, reading, and spending time with her husband, Kwame, her bonus son, Kian, and their two cats, Thirteen and Hunter.
